I love Smokey Robinson. He's a great lyricist and one of my favorite singers. I don't have the whole sampling thing down yet, so I asked Jimmy to do the beat for me and told him which parts I wanted to loop. This is the only beat on the album I didn't make, and he did a good job. I also featured him on the song. My friend Nik Guererro was supposed to be on the song, but he retired from rap. I mention him in the line 'Like the homie Nik said, whatever happens happens/'. Cruisin' through cities is a passtime in California, so I had to have a song dedicated to it. It can also be therapeutic, and it fits with the 'Zen' side of the album.
lyrics
I'm real, so everything I'm kickin' is the truth/
Aint a farmer but I'd get chickens in a 'Coupe'/
'Speed' through L.A. like Sandra Bullock/
Just a blur through the street like a scrambled bullet/
Man I'm rollin'...goin' out to Venice/
Smokin' stogies like a Cali menace/
Got the girls in the backseat strippin'/
While I'm grubbin' on some Takis, sippin'/
On that Arizona mashin' past Hollywood/
King James lit up smellin' jolly good/
Stereo knockin that Oldies shit/
Pass the swish to the side; let the homies hit/
Like the homie Nik said, 'whatever happens happens'/
Take a food food break then go back to mashin'/
If we make wrong turn then we'll bust U's then/
Bumpin' Smokey Robinson just cruisin'/
