about

I wrote this song write after James Brown died. This was at the end of 2006 and I was 15 at the time. I believe I have improved drastically since then but I really liked how this song came out so I used it for my album. The beat was originally one I heard on Del The Funky Homosapien's music page and I tried to buy it from him but it was too late by the time his manager finally replied to my queries. It probably all worked out for the best, because they were going to charge me a thousand bucks for the beat. I made my own beat for the song which came out nicely

lyrics

Ahh..feelin' real good as I step out of bed/
Even knowin' full well it's a day I'm 'bout to dread/
No...I dont got bills to pay/
But this thing called school really kills the day/
Life's an onion, the way layers peel away/
The newer the layer, the less you feel the pain/
But still I chill...as I start to cook my breakfast/
Look outside..see some kids bein' reckless/
I smile to myself thinkin' 'that's how I used to be'/
Back in the days...of pre school and booster seats/
When havin' fun was all I worried about/
And noone hurried up out/
rooms with tears runnin' down their cheeks/
and you didn't talk to people who were bound to speak/
bad bout you; wait 'till you turned the corner to start/
It seems the...younger the person the warmer the heart/

I got memories...of synergy/
When we didn't waste energy/
On hatin'; it was spent on relaxation/
when we made jokes without retalliation/
when all three meals contained cereal/
and people didn't focus on material/
possessions, but we counted our blessins/
Expression helped us through oppression/
When people still looked to the Lord for guidance/
And I never really got bored of fightin'/
for what I believed in; it was natural/
And I wasnt lied too; stuff was factual/
When people had the brains we now lack to know/
the difference between fantasy and factual/
Money wasn't an issue..it wasn't a 'cheddar race'/
And for that, the world was a better place/
